Student Eviction Prevention - Community Support Expands Work

When a family faces eviction, a child’s education faces a crisis.
A few years ago, our data revealed a heartbreaking trend: too many students were missing school because their families were losing their homes. Moving mid-year meant changing schools, falling behind, and losing stability.
As a backbone organization, Learn to Earn Dayton recognized a safety net was necessary. We brought together national experts and local champions to design a solution, built a secure data infrastructure, and launched a small pilot program to protect local families.

Today, that pilot has expanded citywide - catching potential student evictions the moment they are filed so we can intervene before a family is forced out.
This life-changing work is only possible because of a coalition of partners and investors who believe in housing stability as educational success.
Our Launch Partners:Â Thank you to Omega CDC, CityWide, City of Dayton Clerk of Courts, and ABLEÂ for doing the vital work on the ground. This initial pilot was made possible by the generous support of Wright-Patt Credit Union, The AES Ohio Foundation, the Dayton Legal Heritage Foundation, and Blue Meridian Partners.
Our Expansion Partners:Â Because of proven success, we have expanded citywide to serve any family with a child facing eviction. We are deeply grateful to:
Jack W. and Sally D. Eichelberger Foundation of The Dayton Foundation
Dayton Legal Heritage Foundation, a component fund of The Dayton Foundation
Marianna F. Slanker Family Fund of The Dayton Foundation
The AES Ohio Foundation
Our Early-Warning Innovation: To proactively match court filings with school rosters to catch evictions early, we are proud to recognize Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. as a funding partner, alongside our deep data partnership with Dayton Public Schools and Dayton Municipal Court.
When we stabilize housing, we stabilize classrooms. Thank you to everyone helping us keep our students safe, housed, and learning.
