To help families navigate the season, the Summer + Afterschool Collaborative has officially launched the 2026 Summer Youth Program Resource Guide.

After 10 months of deep dives into community organizing, policy advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving, the journey has reached a defining milestone. This week, we gathered to witness the Impact Presentations, marking the official completion of our very first Civic Leadership Program (CLP) cohort.

Building on the momentum of its successful debut, Learn to Earn Dayton, in collaboration with an advisory council of expert community partners, is proud to announce the launch of the second year of the Civic Leadership Program (CLP). This transformative training academy is designed to empower local residents with the leadership skills and knowledge necessary to advocate effectively for students and families.

Learn to Earn Dayton facilitated a third and final round of the Community Investment Fund (CIF) in 2025, continuing its work with eight deeply-rooted, neighborhood organizations to implement projects in support of the resident-led Power of Place plan. In this report, we are pleased to share their success, express our gratitude for all partners who made it possible, and look forward to what’s ahead.

“This is progress you can see,” said Vanessa Ward, president of Omega CDC. “Through workgroups and surveys, families consistently asked for opportunities to put down roots, and now homes are coming to Northwest Dayton neighborhoods with the support of partners who see the value of investment. This is the future our residents called for. The demand is being answered with action.”

This critical work cannot be done alone. Our ability to succeed depends on our willingness to collaborate for collective impact. Throughout this special edition, you will see how our region is dedicated to the full spectrum of education. We highlight our focus on early childhood success, innovative K-12 tools, and the development of industry-aligned career pathways for high school students.

Dr. Rowell brings deep expertise in the areas central to the 2Gen mission. She recently retired as a dedicated Professor of Sociology at Sinclair Community College, where she twice directed the Honors Program and was the founding director of the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Members of the Community Investment Fund cohort had the opportunity to meet with local and national philanthropic partners, sharing their community impact and expanding networks.

Learn to Earn Dayton had the opportunity to facilitate a breakout session at the Youth Summit earlier this month, sharing the final draft of the My Voice. My City. My Future. master plan with local students.

The program is expanding its scope to serve any resident of the City of Dayton with a school-aged child facing eviction. In collaboration with the Dayton Municipal Court, we are working to develop a new student eviction prevention database to proactively identify and offer services to at-risk families.

In Northwest Dayton, Youth House Inc. is empowering youth of color and building community strength through culturally grounded programs, essential resources, and safe, affirming spaces.

Alex Bohler, founder of Hatch Architects Design Center, shared the difference this funding has made, “kids deserve to know this career exists—and that they can do it too.”

Spectrum New Beginnings (SNB) is cultivating holistic wellness and self-care for Black individuals and families in a community long impacted by health disparities.

“Our number one goal is to support academic growth,” Campbell explains. “The after-school tutoring program has become a safe place where students are getting the support they need to grow.”

What began as a modest outreach program for young girls, quickly grew into something bigger, On Purpose Academy and Mentoring Center (OPAMC) is a co-ed preschool focused on delivering education services for early childhood and school-aged children. OPAMC is more than a classroom, it is a catalyst for growth. Their mission is to elevate and inspire preschoolers and youth to be focused, purposeful, and resilient.

We were inspired by national leaders, and encouraged to continue building momentum for connected systems that better serve our students and families.
